ZTE seems to be quite eager to unveil that Grand S beast smartphone. So much so in fact that the company jumped the gun and spilled some beans on its upcoming 5-inch device ahead of its CES debut on the event's website. The Grand S will be joining the 5-inch, full HD smartphone club and ZTE says it will be the slimmest device at the party. It's photo has also been leaked, courtesy of an Engadget tipster.

The ZTE Z753, as it's also known, is rumored to feature a quad-core CPU and run on Jelly Bean, but which version exactly is unknown for now. However, ZTE is happy to share a concept drawing of the smartphone showing its inception.

That concept art is unveiling that the phone is going to have a bump on the back where the camera resides. In addition, it's also expected to be crafted in an unibody fashion giving it a premium look and feel.

We'll have more information on the ZTE Grand S once CES 2013 kicks in on January 8

We had previously seen leaks for the ZTE Avid 4G, however as of today, the handset has come available for purchase. The Avid 4G is available by way of MetroPCS and has landed with a relatively low price of $149.99. And keep in mind, this is a contract-free price. The ZTE Avid 4G brings (as the name would imply), 4G LTE connectivity along with a 4-inch (480 x 800) display and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Other goodies include a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 2.3GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, 1730 mAh battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a VGA quality front-facing camera and a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera.

In addition, MetroPCS has the Avid 4G listed as having support for joyn. And for those not familiar with this, joyn is a service that will allow you to “bring your calls and chats to life” by sharing photos, videos and music. Joyn allows for voice calls and messaging and also has features to include real-time status for messages and the ability to see your friends’ availability, location and current status with Contacts Presence.

With that, those interested in checking out the ZTE Avid 4G will be able to do so online, or at any of the MetroPCS retail locations. And along with the $149 purchase price, the handset is eligible for use with the 4G LTE service plans which are priced from $40 and up to $70 per month. MetroPCS is also offering a limited time promotional plan for $55 per month that includes unlimited 4G LTE.

A special version of the recently announced ZTE Grand Era has been unveiled in Hong Kong. What’s unique about this device is not that it’s not only LTE-enabled, but that it can also sing along two different kinds of LTE networks – FDD-LTE and TD-LTE. However, the process of switching between two network types is not as seamless as we would like it to be. Instead of the phone detecting the current network type and doing all the switching automatically, users will have to reboot the device to connect to the other LTE network type. Sounds like a pain but I guess something’s gotta give.

Aside from that dual-mode connectivity, the ZTE Grand Era LTE also packs a 4.5-inch 720p HD screen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, with the company’s relatively light Mifavor UI singing on top of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Finally, in case you wonder, we’re not sure whether this special Grand Era will ever be available outside of China and select Asian countries where dual-mode LTE capability actually makes sense.
