Six days ago, we first brought you news that T-Mobile would be offering the Titanium Gray Samsung Galaxy S3. They would be replacing the 16GB Pebble Blue variant with the Titanium Gray Galaxy S3 while still offering the 32GB version of the Pebble Blue. For those who have been waiting, the wait is now over.

According to TMo News, stores and retailers have already gotten the device into inventory and have begun selling it. As you can see from the picture above, it’s available online as well. As reported, none of the Pebble Blue variety will be available in store anymore, but the 32GB will be available online.

T-Mobile has confirmed that this isn’t a LTE-ready version of the Galaxy S3. It’s a 42Mbps HSPA+ device, so when T-Mobile starts rolling out its LTE, this phone will be left behind. It should still get HD voice calling, though.

Is the Titanium Gray Galaxy S3 worth buying?

If you absolutely have to have this phone in this color, then no amount of logic will change your mind. However, there are some things to bear in mind. The Galaxy S4 is right around the corner, for instance. Also, T-Mobile is projected to have LTE to 100 million of its customers by mid 2013. The Galaxy S3 can’t use LTE and, obvioulsy, it isn’t a Galaxy S4. So if you’re shopping for a new smartphone and want the best, it’s probably a better idea to wait a few months for the newer stuff.

Samsung’s Galaxy S III is now available in a wide array of colors after initially launching with only two. The same situation apparently has played out for their impressive Galaxy Note II 5.5-inch smartphone tablet hybrid. After hitting the shelves in Pearl White or Titanium Grey, it looks like Samsung’s set to offer a few new colors.Samsung’s Galaxy Note II leaked last week in a new black color option, but we’ve been hearing that was just a faked image. Why you’d fake something so simple as a color beats me, but to each his own. Today however it appears that a real leak has surfaced showing the Galaxy Note II in two brand new colors.

The Galaxy S III was made available limited to AT&T in Garnet Red, and we could be seeing the same thing for the Note II. New images show the large smartphone in both the Red color option, as well as the recently introduced Amber Brown. Although the Note II won’t be Garnet Red, this is being called “Ruby Wine” and is a much darker red color.

According to Unwired View a Korean Ad had the image you see above, clearly showing Samsung preparing some new colors in their home country. In the coming weeks we could see the Note II offered in white, black, blue, as well as the red and brown shown here today. That or just buy a colorful flip case of your choice. Verizon was the only carrier in the US which shipped Galaxy Note II with the multi-window feature out-of-the-box. Other major carriers such as Sprint and AT&T recently started rolling out this update. Now, US Cellular finally joined the bandwagon and rolled out the multi-window update for the Galaxy Note II owners.

The latest update is numbered R950VXALL1 and it bumps the Galaxy Note II to Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). Apart from that, it brings split screen functionality, minor UI changes, fixed Burst mode issues and a number of preloaded apps such as City ID, Daily Perks, Your Navigator Deluxe, Amazon Shopping, Amazon MP3 and much more. US Cellular is issuing an update to their variant of Samsung's Galaxy Note II, bringing the baseband version up to R950VXALL1. The headline feature with this update, as may be expected, is multi-window support. That's not all the R950VXALL1 package brings, though.

The update, besides evidently bringing the device up to Android "4.1.4" Jelly Bean (did you mean to say, 4.1.2 there, USC?), brings an armload of bug fixes, from a "Burst Mode" camera fix to occasional toggling between 3G and 1X, to minor UI changes including the replacement of the notification shade's "sync" button with a multi-window shortcut and a makeover for the phone's Sound icon, switching from gray to green.

As a Galaxy S2 user myself, it’s pretty disappointing to find out that S2 owners will have to wait even longer before we receive the official 4.1.2 update. It seems like we’ve already been waiting forever, but Samsung Sweden have now moved their update release date to January, back from the initial expect release in November. But who knows whether this release date will just be pushed back further and further.

The speculation is that the recently identified exploit problems with the Exynos processors will require developers to divert resources into fixing this issue first. So the Jelly Bean update will just have to be put on the waiting list until then. Frustratingly, it looks like the update is pretty much ready to roll out in some European countries already, but will be delayed until the update can be rolled out across the whole of Europe in one go.

So unfortunately we won’t be seeing the Jelly Bean update until sometime in 2013, but who knows when. Until then I’m seriously tempted to look at some ROMs to fulfill my desire for some new features on my Galaxy S2.

T-Mobile hasn't yet released their Galaxy Note, and they already have an OTA update in the works. The 5.3-inch pocket computer is set to be released on August 8, and T-Mo support says to expect an update to version T879UVLG3. The specifics are a bit thin, and the change log for the 21MB update lists three issues I'm not seeing with my review unit:

It's also worth mentioning that the support docs list both the current build and the upcoming OTA as Android version 4.0.3, when the current production units are running Android 4.0.4 with build number T879UVLF5. We're chalking this one up as a typo, but I've reached out to T-Mobile to verify.

Now this is surprising. CM10 – based on Jelly Bean Android 4.1 – has shown up on the I9100G variant of the international Galaxy S2 before the I9100 itself (which got a barely working Jelly Bean ROM), and in a surprisingly well working form. XDA Elite Recognized Developer codeworkx has released the official build of CM10 for the I9100G, which brings Jelly Bean features such as a smoother interface, better and smarter keyboard, advanced voice recognition and search functionality, offline voice typing, an improved and actionable notifications area, and more (the full list can be seen here).


This firmware and the guide below are compatible only and only with Galaxy S2, model number I9100G. It’s not compatible with the I9100 or any other device. Check your device’s model number in: Settings » About phone.

How to Install Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on Galaxy S2 I9100

This procedure will wipe all your apps, data and settings (but it will NOT touch your SD cards, so don’t worry about those). Backup your Apps and important data — bookmarks, contacts, SMS, APNs (internet settings), etc. This Android backup guide would help you.

Important! Don’t forget to at least make a backup of your APN settings, which you can restore later if your data connection does not work after installing the ROM. Use the backup guide to find out how.

Install the stock Android 4.0.3 XXLPQ firmware on your phone by following the guide → here.

Install Clockworkmod (CWM) recovery on XXLPQ by following the guide → here.

Download the latest version of the ROM from the official development page.

Download the Google Apps package. This will install apps like Market, Gmail, etc. which are not present in the ROM.

Download Gapps | Filename: gapps-jb-20120715.zip

Copy the downloaded zip files from step 3 and step 4 to the internal SD card.

Turn off the phone and boot into Clockworkmod recovery. For this, press and hold these 3 buttons together until the screen turns on: Volume UP + Home + Power. Phone will boot into CWM recovery.

Use volume keys to scroll up and down between options and power key to select an option in recovery.

Select wipe data/factory reset, then select Yes on next screen to confirm. Wait a while till the data wipe is complete.

Select install zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from sdcard. Scroll to the ROM file on the sdcard and select it. Confirm installation by selecting Yes – Install _____.zip on the next screen. The ROM will start installing.

After ROM installation is complete, select choose zip from sdcard again, then select the gapps-jb-20120715.zip file to install the Google apps package.

After the installation is complete, select go back then select reboot system now to reboot the phone and boot up into Jelly Bean. The first boot can take up to 5 minutes, so be patient.

Going back to stock ROM: To go back to a stock Samsung ROM again, you can flash the XXLPQ firmware by following the guide linked in step 2 above.
