A little surprise was waiting for me on my Google I/O Nexus 7 tablet today. Looks like the tablet is getting a very small 859kb over-the-air update that brings the build number up to JRO03D. I haven’t noticed anything new with this update except for a slightly more verbose About screen, which now shows the FCC ID, IC and model number. The Android version number is still 4.1.1 on the tablet, so it is a very minor update.
Being rolled-out over-the-air, it will soon reach all the Nexus 7 tablets. It is the second software update since the tablet was announced at I/O.
The tablet went on sale in United States and select other countries on the last Friday and the initial sales have been encouraging.According to AndroidCentral, there are no visible changes except perhaps on the “About Tablet” screen, which now shows more data, including the FCC ID, IC and model number.

It’s fair to guess this isn’t the only thing included in the new software but because we don’t have a change log, we can only speculate about other changes under the hood. In any case, we advise you to get the latest software the minute your Nexus 7 tells you to there’s a new firmware version waiting for download. It’s a good practice to have the latest software running at all times
