Samsung appears to be creating a direct competitor to Google's best-selling Nexus 7 tablet, as well as Apple's iPad Mini, with reports saying that the Korean electronics giant is testing a 7-inch Galaxy Note tablet.
Appearing on two different test certificate listings from the DLNA Alliance, the unannounced device has two model numbers: GT-N5100 and GT-N5110.
To add credence to the existence of a 7-inch Galaxy Note tablet, the "GT-N" model number is also utilized by Samsung's existing Galaxy Note II and Galaxy Note 10.1 tablets.
The DLNA Alliance describes the hardware as "Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 OS upgrade version derivative model - Ice Cream Sandwich version - Tablet". Moreover, a Wi-Fi certification for the same GT-N5110 model number brands the product as a "Wi-Fi and other" tablet integrating dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n and Wi-Fi Direct support.
The certificate also mentions a third tablet model number, the GT-T8025, which may be a separate product from the 7-inch Samsung tablet.
Samsung itself is the developer of Google's upcoming 10-inch Nexus 10 tablet, with the device due for a November 13 launch alongside the Nexus 4.
