Next iPhone to carry more colors and different screen sizes?

New year, new Apple rumors. There’s speculation circling the interwebs about the Cupertino based tech giant potentially testing the waters with different colors and screen sizes for its next iPhone. Of course, this all started from an analyst last month who came out with a bold proclamation that the iOS maker’s next-generation iPhone could launch in the middle of this year with as many as 6-8 colors.

Now another analyst by the name of Brian White from Topeka Capital Markets, has come out with a report today that piggybacks off that earlier report. However, White also believes the next-generation iPhone will carry different screen sizes as well. White’s explanation for the different colors goes as followed:

“Our checks indicate that the next iPhone will have more choices for customers. This entails an expansion in both the color patterns and screen sizes with the next iPhone (i.e., likely called the iPhone 5S) that we currently believe will be launched in May/June with certain supply production starting in March/April.”

He’s basically using the assumption that more colors to come based off of what Apple did with its latest iPod Touches. White also dove into the prospect of different sized displays, suggesting that Apple could be entertaining the idea to better accommodate customers who like specific form factors. He wrote, “We believe this is about to change with the next iPhone offering different screen sizes that we believe will allow Apple to better bifurcate the market and expand its reach.”

Honestly, I don’t see any reason for Apple to increase the size of its screen, especially after it just made the decision to do so after five years of rocking the same 3.5-inch screen. Furthermore, we all know how psychotic Apple is when it comes to pixel density, so messing with its current structure makes no sense. As for different colors, I could see this happening because people are tired of being offered the same black and white flavors.
