ZTE Grand Era LTE with dual-mode LTE launches in Hong Kong

A special version of the recently announced ZTE Grand Era has been unveiled in Hong Kong. What’s unique about this device is not that it’s not only LTE-enabled, but that it can also sing along two different kinds of LTE networks – FDD-LTE and TD-LTE. However, the process of switching between two network types is not as seamless as we would like it to be. Instead of the phone detecting the current network type and doing all the switching automatically, users will have to reboot the device to connect to the other LTE network type. Sounds like a pain but I guess something’s gotta give.

Aside from that dual-mode connectivity, the ZTE Grand Era LTE also packs a 4.5-inch 720p HD screen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, with the company’s relatively light Mifavor UI singing on top of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Finally, in case you wonder, we’re not sure whether this special Grand Era will ever be available outside of China and select Asian countries where dual-mode LTE capability actually makes sense.
