LG Optimus G Certified Carbon Free

LG has been focused on reducing their carbon footprint for years, and while many other companies have made similar claims, few have had the kind of success that LG is currently experiencing. Today, LG announced that six of their products have been awarded CarbonFree certification, a major milestone for the company in their endeavors to eliminate as much harmful waste as possible from their production process. The organizing foundation, Carbonfund.org, are considered a leading authority on global warming and the evaluation of individuals and businesses concerning their global carbon footprint.

Despite this impressive showing, this list is actually one field short compared to last year. To get the certification, the products are put through an extensive lifespan analysis, which determines the overall carbon footprint of a product spanning from manufacturing to shipment, then usage and finally to disposal. The LG Optimus G isn’t the first Android smartphone from the company to receive the CarbonFree certification, the Mach LS860 has also received similar recognition. The Optimus G successor, due sometime next year, is likely to also receive the CarbonFree certification, creating a tradition of certification in the Optimus family
