The once fabled Huawei Ascend Mate has been officially unveiled just a few days back in Guangzhou. Along with the confirmation of its existence, we also saw for the very first time how it looks like in real life. It’s a big, big phone alright – if we can call it that.
If you’re looking for more revealing pictures of the Ascend Mate, you’re in luck, because more images of the handset have found their way online, showing the Mate as it sits next to the smaller, but still big Ascend D2.
You can see up close the curved design of the Mate. Don’t be fooled by the seemingly overly thick bulge on the back, as the device is only 9.9mm in thickness — or 0.5mm thicker than the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Bear in mind that this beast packs a 6.1-inch 1080p display, though. By the way, the headline picture is a size comparison between the Ascend Mate and the Galaxy Note 2.
The full specs of the gigantic Mate haven’t been confirmed yet, but it’s expected to ship with Huawei’s 1.8GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 13MP camera, and 4,000mAh battery. Huawei is planning to introduce the phone stateside at the upcoming CES 2013
