Apple iPad still dominates tablet web traffic, but Kindle Fire and Nexus gaining

Even though the market share for Apple’s iPad has dropped continuously, the web traffic stats aren’t changing that much. Apple’s iPad still dominates the web traffic stats for tablets, but the Kindle Fire, and Google’s new Nexus devices are showing gains. That’s good news for them.Chitika Insights looked at a sample of tens of millions of tablet impressions from the Chitika Ad network across the U.S. and Canada.

They found that Apple’s iPad is still ahead with 87% of the web traffic on tablets. That’s down from 88% last month. The Amazon Kindle Fire tablet family had a 4.25% share of tablet traffic during the period, which was a 20% increase from November. While Google’s Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets combined for 1.06% of tablet traffic, which is a 15% increase from November.

If we can rely on these numbers, ground is being gained slowly against the iPad. Still they will continue to dominate for some time I’m sure.
