Android Jelly Bean Source Code for Galaxy S2 Released, Unofficial Updates Follow

Samsung Galaxy S2 users may not have to wait much longer for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. There is not yet an official update released or even a date set but the source code for the GT-19100_HK Galaxy S2 is available for download. So developers can already work on unofficial ROMs.

In the source code, you will find the TouchWiz user interface and all the expected Jelly Bean features. It is based on Fimwares I9100ZSLS6 and I9100ZSLPG. Developers interested in downloading the source code can do so here.

What if you are not a developer and just want to update your Galaxy S2 to Jelly Bean? It’s been running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich since 2011. That is forever in phone years, after all. XDA developer coderworkx already has an unofficial Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean update ready for download. If you download this build, keep in mind that there will be bugs. Users are strongly advised not to create any ROMs based on this software. Some of the known issues include lags, tearing and other glitches in the UI. The audio has bugs and is missing features. Camera recording is partly broken and FM Radio is unsupported.
