Samsung says removal of universal search from Galaxy S3 was ‘inadvertent’, will be restored for UK models

A Samsung rep speaking to TechRadar said the removal was “inadvertent” and that users can expect a secondary software update to correct the problem. It was originally believed that the removal of the search functionality was the result of recent litigation in cases regarding Samsung’s alleged infringement upon patents owned by Apple.

The latest news either signals that Samsung is backtracking, or more likely that the changes were only meant for the US, the territory where Apple has gained the most traction in defending its patents. Either way, folks loyal to the crown can expect to see universal search restored in a matter of days.
