When HTC announced its listed of devices that would be getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update, one of the handsets on the list was the HTC Desire HD.
We were expecting the HTC Desire HD to receive the Android 4.0 update this month, but now it would appear that the update may have been actually cancelled, although as yet this had not been confirmed by HTC.According to TELUS’ new upgrade timeline, courtesy of MobileSyrup, the HTC Desire HD will not be getting the upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.
The reason is apparently because the device did not perform up to snuff when HTC put it through testing with the software on board.
Clearly, this isn’t the news that HTC Desire HD owners on TELUS, or really, HTC Desire HD owners in general, wanted to hear, but that’s what it has come to.
HTC originally confirmed Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the HTC Desire HD back in February and said that it would roll out the software update later in the year.
The manufacturer is also debating whether it will be upgrading the HTC Droid Incredible 2 with Android 4.0 with a decision to come by August. So, it’s certainly possible that the HTC Desire HD won’t be the only big name phone not to see the upgrade to Android 4.0 ICS.
