Google Nexus 7 Features Built In Smart Cover Sensor

When Google announced the Nexus 7 there was one thing they forgot to mention, it would appear that the new Nexus 7 features a built in smart cover sensor just like the Apple iPad.

Google didn’t really tell us but we figured out that there is a magnetic sensor in Google’s new 7 inch nexus device that will make it perfect for use with smart covers. This magnetic sensor can be seeing in the video below and even more proof is the official coming soon page for these covers.

Wonder why Google didn’t point this out to us maybe waiting to surprise us with their cases. These cases are pretty cool and should be a good addition to this already amazing tablets. For now enjoy the video showing the sensor and we will wait for an official mention of these from Google.Asus, who build the Nexus 7 for Google recently announced some new covers for the device, although they didn’t give any specific details, so we suspect that the new covers will work with this feature on the Nexus 7.

Apple has a patent for their Smart Cover design on the iPad 2 and 3, although it isn’t clear as yet whether Google’s new smart cover feature is significantly different than Apples’, we wonder if this will be one of Apple’s future lawsuits
